Future Stars

GBA Future Stars

GBA Future Stars was created in 2011 to provide basketball opportunities for all children aged 5-16, teaching the FUNdamentals of basketball in a social and friendly environment.

Early take up was modest, competing with other Saturday sports on one court at St Sampsons HIgh, but over time it grew and today, following relocation to Beau-Sejour, 180 children play across three courts over three hours!

With qualified, experienced coaches, Future Stars aims to deliver a basketball programme in line with Basketball England’s (BE) four pillars of play and also assist players who want to play more competitively in the GBA’s league structures.  It is also the first rung on the development pathway ladder leading to opportunities with BE’s Aspire programme for children aged 11-15, senior GBA leagues and representative basketball for Guernsey across U15, U17, U21 and Senior Men / Women.

Run by GBA Head of Development Pat Ogier and Head Coaches Dave Sauvarin and James Tracey, the team is supported by BE Level 2 Qualified coaches and GBA Level 1 coaches as well as host of other volunteers who share our values.

Future Stars is a safe environment for all children wanting to play basketball with full trained safeguarders and first aiders as well as all Over 18 coaches being DBS checked as part of their licence affiliation with BE. See our About page for further details.

Future Stars is the future of the GBA and we are committed to providing the best opportunities for all young people who want to have some exercise and learn a fast moving sport whilst making friends and growing in a secure sporting environment so if you are interested, get in touch!
